MORE AND MORE MOTORISTS ARE SEARCHING FOR INSURANCE QUOTES ONLINE ACCORDING TO A NEW SURVEY BY AUTO TRADER

Research by Auto Trader, the UK’s no 1 motoring website and magazine, reveals that more and more motorists are searching for insurance quotes online, with over 4,000 quotes searched for each day on AutoTrader.co.uk – a 30% increase over the last 12 months. 

According to the research*, nearly 30% of motorists go online and get quotes directly from insurers when it comes to renewing, with 37% using the Internet to get quotes from price comparison sites. Less than 10% would ring one or two other insurers for quotes. (*Source: eDigital, February 2008)

Nearly 80% of motorists have used a price comparison website in their search for car insurance and of those, 30% commented that the quotes they received were ‘very’ accurate.

Today, the majority of motorists shop around annually for their insurance (82%) according to the survey of over 4,500 drivers nationwide. The most important factors, according to UK motorists, for choosing an insurance provider are:
- low-cost premiums (100%)
- extent of cover offered (48%)
- being a trusted, reputable brand (38%)
- no claims protection (26%)
- low excess (22%).
